The Top 10 'Must Try' Food Spots in Leamington Spa

Leamington Spa in Warwickshire, is known for elegant Georgian and Victorian architecture, along with its lush green spaces. I really enjoyed exploring the charming culinary landscape here, with a variety of international cuisines, traditional British pubs, and contemporary eateries, making it a delightful destination for food enthusiasts.

I'm going to get straight to the point about which cafes/restaurants I thought were worth it and that I would return to.

1. La Coppola

This takes the top spot as a delightfully fancy Italian restaurant. With a beautiful interior, including a ceiling covered in intertwining blossom. It is known around Leamington that if you have a special occasion, you'll want to have it at La Coppola. The dress code is smart and I recommend booking in advance in order to claim a table. The menu offers a great selection of options more on the pricier side, I really enjoyed the duck leg confit (£25.95), but it's the pasta that truly blew me away. You can get a medium sized, beautifully creamy carbonara for only £8.95 or I recommend sizing up for £14.95.

It's also known for it's oysters, so if your a seafood fan, you can get 3 Oysters for £ 9.95.

2. Neighbourhood

Walk in to discover the coffee shop, offering not only exceptional brews but also a haven for studying with swift WiFi, a relaxed atmosphere, and abundant charging points. Indulgence reaches new heights with their bakes, particularly the irresistible chocolate cake that keeps me coming back. Venture further into the shop to find a selection of food huts to find a treasure trove of options, spanning from classic pizzas to hearty all-day breakfasts, aromatic Indian dishes, hearty burgers, and Greek cuisine. Neighbourhood encompasses a world of flavours to cater to every palate, making it a culinary destination that truly has it all.

3. Cafe Royale

Cafe Royale is where affordability meets mouthwatering satisfaction, a place known for it's breakfast. The super six English breakfast is a beloved favourite – a hearty and filling option that delivers exceptional value for your money. Step into the warm embrace of a family-run establishment that exudes a sense of familiarity, and you'll usually find it busy.

£7.50 super six breakfast (bacon, sausage, egg, hash brown, beans & toast) upgrade to £8.90 for the addition of black pudding, mushrooms and tomatoes.

4. Steamhouse

Fresh bagels with fillings as well as delicious cake options. They have a great variety and you can get it served warm or cold! Really good find and 10/10 for freshness and quality. Not many places to sit though, so I recommend having a takeaway instead. My personal favourite has to be the smoked salmon and cream cheese bagel, named "the alaskan" and priced at £6. With 17 different kind of bagel options on the menu when I visited, they will likely supply one suited to your taste!

5. Red hot mammas

Fresh handmade wood fired pizzas that feel authentically Italian. With a Margarita priced at £11.95, they have lots of topping options that peak at £15.95 - so it isn't too cheap but in all honesty, it is worth the price due to the perfect crisp dough texture, flavours and huge size. They have outdoor beach huts to sit in to eat or you can sit inside.

6. Hart & Co

This place has so many sweet food options. Think of a American diner but with a fun pink interior. They are known for an endless selection of drinks, pancakes, waffles, breakfast options and savoury sides. Only go here if you have a sweet tooth as it can get a bit sickly. Perfect big portions and pretty food presentation, ideal if you wanted to share.

7. Sombrero

Delicious takeaway Mexican food, with the shining star of the menu undoubtedly being the burrito, a true masterpiece boasting a perfect 10/10 score for authenticity and taste. For those seeking a picturesque setting, consider indulging in the local charm of Jephersons Gardens as you relish your meal with friends. The pricing is reasonable starting at £9.90 for burritos and enchiladas. They have a wide variety on their menu including taco bowls, enchiladas, fajitas and a whole range of sides including stuffed jalapeños.

Tip: if you pick up instead of receiving it via delivery, you save money on the order.

8. Bistro Pierre

Although it's a chain... it’s a great one. This is your spot if you love French food and enjoy a lovely interior, feels fairly fancy but very reasonable pricing. They have a good amount of vegetarian and vegan options, with a delicious Végé Bourguignon (£14.50). I admire their ability to cater for all, no matter their preferences or dietary requirements. My personal favourite dish is their steak frites (£14.25).

9. Hayashi

Amazing sushi that puts YO!-sushi to shame. It’s so tasty and fresh and offers a great selection. The presentation is faultless and I admire their fast service. Truly amazing sushi and I would be tempted to travel all the way back to Leamington just to try it again. Well priced for the quality and size of the meals and the lunch bento box option is a great deal for those on a budget.

10. Warwick street kitchen

Great healthy unique foods and top quality coffee and cakes. Food is not basic with loads of flavours and an almost home-cooked authentic feel. Their Coffee is one of best in Leamington and the cakes and pastries are to die for (the sticky fig & walnut buns are my go-to). Less suitable for fussy eaters but otherwise, a great option although limited food selection. Best for breakfast and brunches.
