The exact origins of the market can be traced back to the 11th century, making it one of the oldest markets in London. It has a rich history and has evolved over time to become the bustling and diverse food market that it is today. It is also where 'Bridget Jones Diary' was filmed with Bridget's home very nearby to the stands!
Borough market has been very popular on TikTok, with many being disappointed with certain stands after paying far too much. So here is my straight to the point round-up of what food is actually worth the cash and to help you decipher what you would like best when your overwhelmed with choice.

Padre tacos
With options such as fish, beef, chicken and pork in a flavourful corn tortilla, it is 100% worth the around £3.50 per taco and I especially love the beef as well as the crispy potato taco that packs a flavour punch. Having tried much more expensive alternatives at Spitalfields and Camden, this one truly takes the win on price point whilst being so delicious. I recommend the set of 3 tacos as you can get different fillings on each for a flavour journey.
Humble crumble
Humble crumble is very 'hyped' on TikTok and it is a great dessert option in my opinion. I recommend getting the mix of either the berries, the apple, nectarine or peach mix so you can enjoy their yummy fruit mixes. You can choose the ratio of crumble to fruit as well as if you want vegan crumble or not. I waited about 8-10 minutes on a not too busy day, but if you go on a busy day you can be waiting for a good 15 minutes+. I found that the warm custard was actually my favourite (plus it's unlimited refills) more than the marshmallow topping as I felt the crumble needed a better binding agent that made the crumble less dry. I also highly recommend the frozen custard if you want more of a cooler refreshing desert!
Overall, this spot is worth the hype, and is the perfect size that you don't fill ill after it. The price (starting from £5.50) is 100% worth it if you craft your crumble in the way that best suits your preferred textures/tastes.
The Mussels
La Tua Pasta
Fresh homemade pasta at family-run La Tua Pasta is the perfect lunch or dinner dish. I love how you get to choose the type of pasta, the type of sauce as well as toppings (some are on the house). The menu seems deceivingly simple but there are so many combinations! I especially love the truffle buffala tortellini with tomato sauce and the most perfectly textured gnocchi.
Horn OK Please
Named after a common phrase whilst driving in India, this is the perfect veggie spot. Their signature dish is the moong daal dosa (lentil and spiced potato pancake for £8.00) is authentic and amazing (it's not too spicy, you can ask for more spice if you please) as well as the dosa chaat (£7.50). You can also add grated spiced paneer for £1.00 if you want to bulk up the dish more.

Joli
For a real taste of Singapore! I love the Beef/vegan (jackfruit mixed with tapioca/cornflour balls) rendang at £10 as well as the flavoursome clay pot prawn noodles (You can customise by choosing the type of noodle you’d like with your protein). Pairing this with the £4 chicken.

The Ginger Pig
Being British, I love a sausage roll. If you like lots of meaty filling with less pastry, this one will be worth it. The traditional is priced at £5 and I didn't mind paying this amount as I felt that the filling was a good quality and enough to be more of a filling snack.
The Black Pig
Toasted ciabatta sandwiches topped with lots of 13 month aged parmesan, offering veggie and meat sandwiches. I recommend the honey truffle pork shoulder ciabatta for £10.50, with a fresh and crunchy fennel and apple slaw that paired perfectly with that succulent pork. The TikTok hype was right with this one!
Bomba Paella and Furness Fish Grill
The seafood paella is really fresh and delicious, a little overpriced at £10, so if your not a big fan of paella I would skip. Next to Bomba Paella is the Furness Fish Grill, serving mussels in garlic sauce are perfection (again £10). The queue is normally quite ridiculous for the paella (and short for Furness Fish Grill), but it doesn't take them long to get through lots of customers so it went quite fast and as a big seafood lover I would recommend it.
At Furness Fish Grill they also serve great quality oysters that are deliciously salty.
I hope this guide has helped you decide what to buy at Borough Market!
